Status and Funding of the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission

At its budget work session on May 23rd, the Council asked this council subcommittee to meet and discuss potential changes to the structure of the town's public arts efforts.

Tonight the subcommittee will present to the council the substance of its discussion. The basic recommendation is that the subcommittee continue to meet, and include staff and Public Arts Commission representatives, to more fully consider the various options that would optimize public art efforts in Chapel Hill. In addition, the committee recommends that the Commission should present to the Town Manager a request for funding through the first quarter of the new fiscal year. The balance of funds should be reserved until the subcommittee reports back to the Council.
