A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A PUBLIC ART PLAN FOR 2007-08 (2007-06-27/R-4)

WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill adopted a Percent for Art Program on March 4, 2002; and

WHEREAS, this program includes an annual consideration by the Town Council of a Public Art Plan to be recommended by the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager in conjunction with the Public Arts Commission is authorized to implement a Public Art Plan that includes: the following previously identified and approved Percent for Art projects, which have not yet commenced or concluded, including:

• Chapel Hill Public Library and Pritchard Park Art Garden
• Community Center Renovation
• Downtown Redevelopment Initiative (Lot 5)
• Greenways Bond Projects
• Homestead Park Aquatics Center
• Post Office Renovation
• Southern Community Park
• Streets and Sidewalks

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the program will be implemented according to the guidelines adopted in Resolution 2002-03-04/R-8, and only to the extent that funding is appropriated for the capital projects, and that the source of funding allows expenditures for public art.
