RE: Request: Street Parking Restrictions in the Finley Forest Condominiums Community
Dear Mayor Foy and Council Members;
CAS, Inc. is the property management company for the Finley Forest Condominium Association in Chapel Hill. On behalf of the owners and residents of Finley Forest, the Board of Directors hereby request that parking be restricted between the hours of 8 AM – 5 PM; Monday – Friday on the following streets in our community (see attached map):
Finley Forest Drive
Brookberry Circle
Springberry Lane
Summerwalk Circle.
In special circumstances, residents of Finley Forest will be permitted on street parking with a Town authorized parking permit properly displayed on their vehicle.
Our community has become a “parking and ride destination” for non-resident students of UNC-CH causing significant traffic congestion and a safety hazard for residents. During the day, the streets are lined with as many as 100 vehicles parked close to intersections and near parking lot entrances. This has created a serious safety issue for residents entering and exiting the neighborhood. Recently, we had a situation where an individual parked an RV camper on Summerwalk Circle and lived in it for several months. Currently, someone is parking a large U-Haul truck on Springberry Lane during the day.
We know that the non-resident parking problem is a great concern to the owners and residents and we respectfully request your approval of this petition.
Respectfully Submitted,
Judd Barrett Michael Johnson
Community Manager President, Finley Forest Condominium Association
