A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND SUPPORTING “THE NATIONAL CONVERSATION ON CLIMATE ACTION” AS AN OFFICIAL TOWN OF CHAPEL HILL SPONSORED EVENT (2007-09-10/R-3)

WHEREAS, on July 10, 2007, ICLEI invited the Town of Chapel Hill to participate in a first of its kind event: The National Conversation on Climate Action, taking place this October 4; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill is a member of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives and a participant in the organization’s Cities for Climate Protection Campaign; and

WHEREAS, this event will be an opportunity for the citizens of the Town of Chapel Hill to discuss the challenges and solutions associated with global warming at the local and state level; and

WHEREAS, this event is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to and build local support for solutions to global warming; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has been spearheading the effort to implement innovative strategies to reduce pollution while saving money and building a healthier, livable community;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town will recognize and support this upcoming climate action event.
