A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE ORANGE COUNTY GRANT, THE ORANGE-CHATHAM JUSTICE PARTNERSHIP GRANT, THE ORANGE COUNTY MATCH AND THE TOWN OF CARRBORO GRANT (2007-09-10/R-4)
WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice funds juvenile crime prevention programs through the Orange-Chatham Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) grant in the amount of $27,100 along with Orange County match ($5,371) for the state funds and additional funds ($20,000) from Orange County totaling $52,471 to the Town of Chapel Hill to enhance the quality of law enforcement services provided in this community to prevent juvenile crime; and
WHEREAS, Orange County has appropriated $44,424 in funds and Town of Carrboro $1,000 in funds, together with Town of Chapel Hill funds ($56,115) and $20,000 client fees provides the total of $121,539 to enhance the quality of law enforcement services provided to the Town of Chapel Hill through early intervention in the cycle of crime and drugs to minimize recidivism for adult substance abuse offenders; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Manager to accept the aforementioned grants and to make all necessary assurances.
