PURPOSE

 

The attached budget amendment would increase the budget of the FY 2007-2008 PL grant program by $50,000.

 

BACKGROUND

 

The Town of Chapel Hill has received funding from the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Surface Transportation Program Direct Allocation Program to fund transportation demand management activities. The Town has been allocated $40,000 in federal funds, which requires a $10,000 local match. These funds will be used to allow staff to maintain and expand the Town’s ongoing transportation management program in coordination with regional transportation demand management activities.

 

The attached budget ordinance amendment will transfer funds from the Planning Department to Transfer to Other Funds for the $10,000 local match.  In addition the budget ordinance amendment will increase the revenues and expenditures in the Federal Highway Administration Section 104(f) program in the Grants Fund as follows:

RECOMMENDATION

 

That the Council adopt the attached Budget Ordinance Amendment to increase the project budget for the Transportation Planning Grant.
