Subject:	Report of the Council Committee on Public Art Efforts

At its meeting June 11, 2007, the Council authorized the Council Committee on Public Art Efforts, comprised as Council Member Mark Kleinschmidt (Chair), Mayor Kevin Foy, Council Member Bill Thorpe and Council Member Jim Ward, to meet and consider various options that would optimize pubic arts efforts in Chapel Hill. The committee was to include Town staff and representatives of the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission in its discussion.

The attached report is the result of the committees’ discussion and is recommended by the committee. The attached resolution authorizes implementation of the committee recommendations by authorizing the Town Manager to advertise for and hire a Public Arts Administrator and to develop with the Chair of the Public Arts Commission a transition plan for Council review at its November 19, 2007 meeting.
