subject:	Appointments to the Orange County Solid Waste Advisory Board

Tonight, the Council may make appointments to 2 vacancies on the Orange County Solid Waste Advisory Board.  One position was vacated by Randy Kabrick and the other position will be the expired term of the Chairman, Jan Sassaman. 

In February 2000, Jan Sassaman was appointed to the Orange County Solid Waste Advisory Board.  He was reappointed in November 2003, and his second term ended in June 2006. In May 2006, the Council voted to extend his term by one year as applicable according to the Council Procedures Manual.  Mr. Sassaman is the chair of the advisory board and has expressed a desire to continue his service.

According to the Solid Waste Interlocal agreement the appointed persons serve at the pleasure of the Town Council.  The Town Council may therefore consider all of the applicants for the two positions.
