A RESOLUTION PROVIDING THE DURHAM-CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE WITH RECOMMENDATIONS AND COMMENTS ON THE DRAFT 2009-2015 METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (2008-02-11/R-11)

WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation has released a draft 2009-2015 Transportation Improvement Program; and

WHEREAS, the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Transportation Advisory Committee is has released the State draft as the draft 2009-2015 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program; and

WHEREAS, the Transportation Advisory Committee has requested public comment on the draft Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council has reviewed the draft Program.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council provides the Transportation Advisory Committee with the following comments and recommendations:

• The funds remaining after the reallocation of $650,000 from the Seawell School Road bicycle project to the Estes Drive shoulders project, estimated at $110,000, be reprogrammed for the Old Durham-Chapel Hill Road bicycle and pedestrian project.
• The Seawell School bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects should be included as an unfunded, future year project.
• The Homestead Road project should be included as an unfunded future year project.
• The Mason Farm Road realignment project should be removed from the 2009-2015 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program.
