A RESOLUTION ADOPTING ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES AND POLICY FOR APPROVAL AND INSTALLATION OF NON-COMMERCIAL BANNERS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA (2008-04-14/R-4)
WHEREAS, one of the Town Council’s stated goals is to promote the downtown revitalization initiative; and
WHEREAS, the Council has received a petition from the Downtown Partnership requesting adoption of a policy for approval and installation of non-commercial banners in the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the Downtown Partnership agreed to provide $3,500 to the Town for purchasing decorative brackets; and
WHEREAS, the Council received a staff report with recommended “administrative procedures and policy” for installation of non-commercial banners in downtown;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council approves the attached “administrative procedures and policy” for installation of non-commercial banners in the downtown area.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council directs the Manager to receive $3,500 from the Downtown Partnership and use $4,500 from the streetscape funds to purchase and install 60 decorative brackets at an estimated total cost of $8,000.
