Dear Mayor Foy and members of the Chapel Hill Town Council,

I ask you to pass the attached resolution that supports the Orange County Real Estate Transfer Tax.  As you are aware, our local governments have few revenue options, and the proposed transfer tax will provide a badly-needed source of funds for our schools and parks.  While no one likes a new tax, it is crucial to maintain and enhance our quality of our life in general, and our schools and parks specifically.

As voters will decide on this issue on May 6th, I also ask you to act on this petition this evening.
