MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT:	Recommendation for Use of Payment in Lieu of Recreation Space Funds
DATE:	March 26, 2008

The Commission voted unanimously (5-0) to recommended that $46,368 in a payment in lieu of recreation space from the Terrace Townhomes project on Hillsborough Street be used, in the following priority order: to replace internal paths at Community Center Park, to repair sections of pavement on the Bolin Creek Trail, and repair a drainage problem on the Bolin Creek Trail.

The Commission noted that these facilities are heavily used by people of all ages who utilize a variety of non-motorized  vehicles. The Commission believes that it is important to maintain the integrity of the paths. The current paths are in poor condition and are rapidly breaking up from excessive age and use.

Commission members voting yes were:  Glen Parks, Chair; Jim Earnhardt, Vice Chair; Mary-Ann Freedman, Mary Blake, and Reed Huegerich  

Absent: Christine Berndt, Gary  Galloway  

A quorum was present.
