a Resolution ADOPTING THE FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY VOLUMES 1 AND 2 OF 3, DATED MAY 16, 2008 AND THE FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAP PANEL 9890 (Map number 37109890000L) DATED MAY 16, 2008 (2008-05-05/R-9)

 

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill is a participant in the National Flood Insurance Program; and

 

WHEREAS, Flood Insurance Rate Map Panel 9890 (Map Number 37109890000K) and the Flood Insurance Study Volumes 1 and 2 of 3, prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, were adopted by the Town Council in January 8, 2007 and became effective on February 2, 2007; and

 

WHEREAS, a mapping error mistakenly placed properties along Dry Branch in the Silver Creek and Springcrest subdivisions in the regulatory floodplain; and

 

WHEREAS, the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management directed its consultant to conduct a detailed study and remapping of the Dry Branch watershed to correct the error; and

 

WHEREAS, the corrected mapping and the accompanying updates to the Flood Insurance Study have been received and must be adopted by the Town Council in order to become effective.  

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the revised Flood Insurance Study Volumes 1 and 2 of 3, dated May 16, 2008, and the revised Flood Insurance Rate Map Panel 9890 (Map Number 37109890000L), dated May 16, 2008, are hereby adopted and become effective on May 16, 2008.
