NEW HOPE CREEK CORRIDOR ADVISORY COMMITTEE

From:   Bob Healy, Chair

The New Hope Creek Corridor Advisory Committee was created in 1992 to advise the City of Durham, Durham County, Orange County and the Town of Chapel Hill on implementation of the New Hope Creek Corridor Master Plan.  At its March 2008 meeting, the Committee heard a presentation by Bill Webster, Assistant Director of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department, on accomplishments and future plans for trails in the Dry Creek section of the Corridor.  In response, the Committee unanimously passed the following resolution:

RESOLVED, that the NHCCAC commends the Town of Chapel Hill for the progress it has made thus far in acquiring land and designing and constructing trails in the Dry Creek portion of the New Hope Corridor and its ambitious plans for additional trails.  The Committee enthusiastically supports these plans and would like to work with the Town of Chapel Hill and the Durham Open Space and Trails Commission on integrating the Dry Creek trails with present and planned trails in Durham City and County.  We believe that New Hope trails can contribute to (1) public access to and through the New Hope corridor for recreational and educational purposes and/or (2) the promotion of non-motorized mobility at neighborhood, local and regional scale."
