SUBJECT: Budget Ordinance Amendment to Fund Wallace Deck Structural Analysis

PURPOSE
Adoption of the attached budget ordinance amendment would provide funds to hire a consultant to perform a structural analysis and feasibility study of the plaza level of the Wallace Parking Facility.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
At its April 28, 2008 business meeting Town Council adopted a resolution authorizing the Town Manager to hire a consultant to perform a structural analysis and feasibility study of the plaza level of the Wallace Parking Facility to determine its suitability for the construction of new office/commercial space on top of the existing facility. The Council contingency was designated as the funding source for the analysis, in an amount not to exceed $15,000.
In order to use Council contingency funds, a budget ordinance amendment must be adopted moving the funds into the appropriate operating budget account. For the Wallace Deck structural analysis project the funds will be moved to the Engineering Department’s budget. The current balance in the Council Contingency is $44,816 and after adoption of the budget ordinance amendment the balance will be $29,816.
That the Council adopt the attached Budget Ordinance Amendment moving funds from Council Contingency to the Engineering Department Operating Budget in order to fund the Wallace Parking Deck Structural Analysis.
