A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE LOW BID FOR THE TOWN HALL HVAC REPLACEMENT PROJECT (2008-06-09/R-3)

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill published the Town Hall HVAC Replacement Project on the Town website on May 6, 2008 and in the Greater Diversity News on May 8, 2008, in accordance with General Statute 143-129;

WHEREAS, a pre-bid conference was held on May 15, 2008; and

WHEREAS, the bids were received, opened and publicly read on May 27, 2008;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council accepts the bid of HM Kern in the amount of $519,100, including Alternates 2 and 3, received in response to the Town's request for bids published on May 6 and 8, 2008 and opened on May 27, 2008, in accord with G.S. 143-129.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Manager is authorized to execute a contract with HM Kern in the amount of $519,100 and to initiate and sign change orders to the contract, provided that the total cost of the project shall not exceed $666,500.
