A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO INITIATE THE PROCESS OF SOLICITING APPLICANTS FOR MEMBERSHIP ON THE CEMETERIES ADVISORY BOARD (2008-06-25 /R-11)

WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill has considered a proposal to create the Cemeteries Advisory Board and subsequently enacted an ordinance to establish such a Board;

WHEREAS, the citizens of Chapel Hill value the Town’s cemeteries as a significant cultural resource and a necessary component of the community’s infrastructure; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council seeks to obtain citizen input as to the Town’s policies on operation and maintenance of the cemeteries;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is hereby authorized to initiate the process of soliciting membership on the Cemeteries Advisory Board according to the criteria set forth in the Ordinance.
