A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR RESURFACING OF STREETS (2008-06-25/R-12)

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has solicited formal bids by legal notice on the Town of Chapel Hill’s website on May 7, 2008, in accordance with G.S. 143-129 for the resurfacing of streets;

WHEREAS, the following bids were received, opened and publicly read on May 29, 2008:

WHEREAS, the bid permits a decrease up to a 25% in the scope of work.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council accepts the May 29, 2008 bid of Barrett, Irvin and Jordan Construction, Inc. as adjusted for street resurfacing in the amount of $541,171.66, including alternates, received in response to the Town's request for bids published on May 7, 2008 and opened on May 29, 2008, in accord with G.S. 143-129.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Manager is authorized to execute a contract with Barrett, Irvin and Jordan Construction, Inc. and to initiate and sign change orders to the contract, provided that the contracted cost of resurfacing, milling, and striping shall remain within the budget.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this contract may be extended twice by one year contract addendum if mutually agreeable to the Town and Barrett, Irvin and Jordan Construction, Inc. at the same base unit price.
