Tonight, the Council holds a public hearing regarding a request from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a Special Use Permit for the Innovation Center. Tonight’s public hearing has been scheduled to receive evidence in support of and in opposition to approval of the application. The purpose of this cover memorandum is to forward my preliminary recommendation to the Council.
I have reviewed and discussed the key issues with Town staff. Based on the information in the record to date, we believe that with the conditions in the attached Resolution and the modification to the regulations requested by the applicant, the Council could make findings required to approve an application for a Special Use Permit. My preliminary recommendation is that the Council adopt Resolution A, approving an application for the Special Use Permit.
