A RESOLUTION PROVIDING THE DURHAM-CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE WITH RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE 2035 LONG RANGE TRANSPORTATION PLAN ALTERNATIVES ANALYSIS (2008-09-22/R-9)

WHEREAS, the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization has developed 2035 alternative transportation networks and land use projections; and

WHEREAS, the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Transportation Advisory Board has released the 2035 Alternatives Analysis for public comment; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has reviewed the 2035 Alternatives Analysis.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the following recommendation be provided to the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Transportation Advisory Committee.

• That the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization use the Fixed Guideway Alternative as the basis for developing the 2035 preferred alternative. The Fixed Guideway Alternative should not include the proposed commuter rail corridor between Carrboro and Hillsborough.
• That the preferred alternative include transportation improvements in northern Chatham County intended to reduce through traffic in southern Orange County.
