Recommendation:  The Public Art Commission met on September 10, 2008 and by a vote, has made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

Background:  On January 14, 2008 Town Council enacted an amendment to Article XII Chapter 2 of the Town Code.   This amendment created an Office of Public Arts to assume financial and programmatic responsibilities formerly under the auspices of the Chapel Hill Public Art Commission (CHPAC), a separate 501c3 organization.  During the period of transition of CHPAC to the Town, the Council made only reappointments to the Public Art Commission.  Three seats were left vacant.  On June 16, 2008 the Public Arts Office was established.  The Public Arts Administrator has been working with the CHPAC to help identify individuals with varied backgrounds to fill those seats and the role of advisors on the new CHPAC Advisory Board.
