The purpose of this memo is to request an amendment to FY 08-09 Position Classification and Pay Plan Ordinance to change two recreations assistant Full Time Equivalent’s to two Lifeguard Full Time Equivalent’s.
During the budget approval process, three recreation assistant positions and one lifeguard position were approved to staff the new Aquatics Center once it was opened. Both the lifeguard and recreation assistants’ positions are placed at grade 26 in the ordinance.
Upon further review, we believe that there is a need for more lifeguards to staff the new center. There is a need for only one full time recreation assistant. We recommend that two recreation assistant positions be changed to the title of lifeguard. There are no budget implications for this change as both positions are classified at grade 26.
That the Council enact the attached amendment to the position classification and pay plan ordinance changing two recreation assistant positions to lifeguard positions in the aquatics division in Parks and Recreation.
