Background: The attached staff memorandum includes background information on Duke Energy’s easement maintenance notification process. It explains the different processes Duke Energy uses to notify residents of anticipated tree pruning adjacent to their distribution lines and when maintaining clearance under their high-voltage transmission lines. It provides a summary of the notification process that Duke Energy representatives have agreed to when applying herbicides in their easements and rights-of-ways within the Town’s jurisdiction.
