Title of Agenda Item: Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Sign the Local Government Green Jobs Pledge
Background: The attached memorandum from the Sustainability, Energy and Environment (SEE) Council Committee includes background information on the Local Government Green Jobs Pledge and its congruence with the Town’s adopted Economic Development Strategy. The Committee recommends that the Town sign on to this co-sponsored initiative, which aims to build a green economy from the bottom up.
Staff Recommendation(s): That the Council consider the SEE Committee’s recommendation to adopt the attached resolution, which would authorize the Mayor to sign the Local Government Green Jobs Pledge and direct the Manager to identify actions and resources necessary to carryout the suggested steps of the pledge in concert with the Town’s overarching Economic Development Strategy.
