A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SEVERAL ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS TO SOUTH COLUMBIA STREET BETWEEN CAMERON AVENUE AND FRANKLIN STREET (2008-10-15/R-12)

WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Town of Chapel Hill have a mutual interest in improving safety and traffic flow in Chapel Hill; and

WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation agreed to make certain roadway improvements to South Columbia Street between Cameron Avenue and Franklin Street; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council received a letter from the North Carolina Department of Transportation seeking input on the proposed improvements to South Columbia Street between Cameron Avenue and Franklin Street; 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council supports the following improvements on South Columbia Street between Cameron Avenue and Franklin Street:

· Mill and resurface the street

· Replace the existing curb and gutter

· Reconstruct several driveways including the driveway at Frat Court and

· Relocate the existing traffic signal and pedestrian crosswalk
