Title of Agenda Item: Response to a Petition Requesting Changes to Street Lighting in the
Gimghoul Historic District.
Background: The attached memorandum provides a response to a petition regarding changes to street lighting in the Gimghoul Historic District. The property owners affected by these changes agreed to pay the total cost of the proposed changes including costs associated with the design, installation, and materials of the lighting.
Fiscal Note: The street light operating cost is expected to be increased by $8 per month ($2 per decorative street light) and the Town is responsible for this additional cost.
Staff Recommendation(s): We recommend that the Council adopt the attached resolution that would authorize the Town Manager to implement the following changes to street lighting in the Gimghoul Neighborhood:
a) Phase I: Change all overhead utility lines to underground on Ridge Lane from Evergreen Lane to its end. Replace the existing wooden street light pole located at the end of Ridge Lane with a 12 foot black fiberglass decorative pole.
b) Phase II: Replace one wooden street light pole located on Glandon Drive with three 12 foot black fiberglass decorative poles served by underground power lines.
