A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE USE OF $17,950 FROM THE STREETSCAPE BOND FUND FOR COST OVERRUNS IN THE IMPROVEMENTS TO AMBER ALLEY (2009-01-12/R-4)
WHEREAS, Amber Alley is a private alley used by the public to access the Town’s Wallace Parking Plaza on Rosemary Street; and,
WHEREAS, Amber Alley needed renovations and repairs to improve the public’s ability to use the alley as an access way between Franklin Street and Rosemary Street; and
WHEREAS, on June 25, 2008 the Council authorized the use of up to $60,000 in Streetscape Bond Funds for improvements to Amber Alley; and
WHEREAS, Strowd Building, LLC and Munch Family Properties, LLC have requested additional funds to cover expenses incurred during the renovation due to further requirements imposed by the Town; and
WHEREAS, Strowd Building, LLC and Munch Family Properties, LLC complied with the further requirements by installing a trench drain and installing additional railings for two handrails; and
WHEREAS, Strowd Building, LLC and Munch Family Properties, LLC provides Town staff with an itemized list for expenses incurred.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes a payment in the amount of $17,950 from the Streetscape Bond Fund to Strowd Building, LLC and Munch Family Properties, LLC to cover additional costs of the renovations to Amber Alley.
