A RESOLUTION DIRECTING FURTHER CONSIDERATION OF THE SALE OF A TOWN-OWNED PARCEL OF LAND AT BENNETT ROAD AND MT. CARMEL CHURCH ROAD (2009-01-12/R-10)

WHEREAS, on November 24, 2008, the Town Council received a petition proposing a purchase of a tract of land owned by the Town at the corner of Bennett Road and Mt. Carmel Road; and

WHEREAS, the Council wishes to consider this offer and the possible sale of this tract with the inclusion of conditions of the sale under which some portion of the property would be protected as open space;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council directs that the Manager initiate a conversation with the Church regarding possible designs for the site and conditions of sale and that the results of that conversation be reported back to the Council.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the Council will consider that report and any proposal from the Church and will determine if it wishes to follow the statutory steps to consider further the sale of this tract of land.
