A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE APPLICATION OF NORTH CAROLINA SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL GRANT (2009-01-26/R-9)

Whereas, the North Carolina Safe Routes to School program has issued a call for grant applications; and

Whereas, a resolution with the grant application is required showing support and administration from the Town of Chapel Hill; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill agrees to enter into a reimbursement agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation: and

Whereas, the Town proposes to partner with the Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools to develop a Phillips Middle School and Estes Hills Elementary School Safe Routes to School grant application for the January 30, 2009 deadline for submission; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is authorized to complete and submit the Safe Routes to School Grant application to the North Carolina Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School Division.
