Recommendations
Background: The attached staff memorandum
includes background information and recommendations for Parking in downtown Chapel Hill.
Fiscal Note: (Numbers coincide with
Parking Recommendations)
- Signage for name changes - $3000

- Meter fees are at $250,000 for 2008. We are asking for a 50% increase for parking
fees associated with on street parking (from $1 per hour to $1.50 per hour)
then our new projected income would be $375,000( Net increase of $125,000).
- Banner for Wallace deck for Event Parking - $250
- None short term, long-term upgrade technology
- Projected revenue loss from Courtesy Tickets $12,394 (if no more than 33%
of tickets, estimated to be 20% of tickets by Parking Services), Additional revenue generated
if fines are increased to $25 is $12,640.
- No Fiscal impact
- Loss
of revenue from 7pm till 8pm if changed - <$150,000>
- Parking Signage - $5000
- None
- Future dollars will be needed to add to the Parking Supply
