Transportation Demand Management Grant Budget Amendment |
date: |
February 23, 2009 |
The purpose of this memorandum is to recommend that the Council accept a North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Grant. The adoption of the attached ordinance would accept $48,938 in TDM grant funds
As part of a Triangle regional 7 year TDM plan, the Town was awarded a grant in the spring of 2008 for implementation of transportation demand management programs in Chapel Hill. The funding is for fiscal year July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009. Other agencies receiving funding included Triangle Transit, NC State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Cary, Durham and Triangle Transit.
The TDM Grant will provide 50% funding for the transportation demand management activities, including staff salaries and preparation of related marketing materials. The fiscal year 2008-2009 TDM funds, totaling $48,938, will support outreach and marketing activities being undertaken by the Town’s Planning and Transit Departments.
The 50% Town match for these funds is to come from a combination of the existing Active Living by Design (ALbD) Grant, as well as current year transit operating funds and general funds.
That the Council enact the attached budget ordinance accepting the TDM grant totaling $48,938.
