Title of Agenda Item: Council Naming Committee Recommendations for Southern Community Park, gazebo at Old Chapel Hill Cemetery and Southern Community Park disc golf course.
Background: After receiving requests from various citizen advisory boards, including the Parks and Recreation Commission, Greenways Commission and the Cemetery Advisory Board, the Committee made the following recommendations at the Committee’s April 27 meeting.
- That the park informally known as Southern Community Park be named “Southern Community Park.”
- That the gazebo at the Old Chapel Hill Cemetery be named in honor of Rebecca Clark.
- That the disc golf course at Southern Community Park be named the “Dogwood Disc Golf Course.”
Fiscal Note: No fiscal impact identified.
Recommendation(s): That the Council consider a resolution to adopt the Council Naming Committee recommendations.
