| Background: The attached staff memorandum includes background information on the funds being received by the Town of Chapel Hill through the federal stimulus package for public transportaiton. The request to establish a project budget upon award of the grant is being made at this time to take advantage of the federal stimulus funding and to obligate those funds prior to the September 1, 2009 reapportionment. | |||

| Fiscal Note: The Town of Chapel Hill has applied for $2,714,867 and federal stimulus funds. These projects are funded at 100% and no local match is required. | |||

| Recommendations: The Council will consider an ordinance to enact the attached project ordinance establishing a project budget for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Grant. | |||
