Response to the petition to extend the hours of Sunday parking on Franklin Street. (O-1) Council Goal 2: Champion Downtown. |

| Background: A petition to expand Sunday parking hours on East Franklin Street from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. was submitted on behalf of three churches in the immediate area. The request is based on the desire of parishioners to patronize businesses in the downtown after church without the need to move their vehicles before parking enforcement resumes at 2:00 p.m. Staff reviewed the request and agreed that an extension to 3:00 p.m. would have mimimal impact. Extending the time past 3:00 p.m. creates safety and enforcement coverage issues. | |||

| Fiscal Note: Extension of the hours for allowed parking may result in a reduction in the number of violations issued and subsequently a slight reduction in enforcement revenue. Costs for updating existing signage would be minimal. | |||

| Recommendations: That the Council enact the ordinance amending Chapter 21 of the Town Code of Ordinances regarding on-street parking to extend parking hours allowed on Sunday to 3:00 p.m. | |||
