Title of Agenda Item: Adoption of 2010 Council Meeting Calendar. (R-6)

Background: The attached resolution establishes a schedule of regular business meetings of the Council on the second and fourth Mondays of most months, and public hearing meetings normally held on the third Mondays of January through June and September through November. This schedule is outlined in the Town’s Code of Ordinances.

The proposed calendar includes schedules for:

  • Preparation of the annual budget and 15-year capital improvement program.
  • Annual planning retreat of the Council in January.
  • Joint planning meeting dates subject to concurrence by the Town of Carrboro and Orange County.
  • Assembly of Governments meeting dates.

As in past years, the proposed calendar takes into account holidays, various religious observances, the annual meeting of the N.C. League of Municipalities in October, and the spring breaks for the University and the City Schools.

Fiscal Note: Fiscal impact not determined.

Recommendations: That the Council adopt the attached resolution establishing the Council calendar for 2010.
