Authorization from Orange and Durham Counties to Issue Pyrotechnics Permits within the Town Limits. (R-6) |

| Background: NC General Statute 14-413 (a1) identifies the Board of County Commissioners as the entity having the responsibility for issuing permits for the discharge of pyrotechnics within the counties. This statute requires authorization in the form of a resolution from the Board of County Commisioners in which a municipality lies allowing the municipality to permit the exhibition, use, and display of pyrotechnics within the corporate limits. | |||

| Fiscal Note: No fiscal impact. There is a nominal permit fee adopted in the Town's fee schedule which generates minimal revenue. | |||

| Recommendations: That the Council authorize the Town Manager to request from Orange and Durham Counties the authority to issue pyrotechnics permits within the Town limits by the Town's Fire Marshal. | |||
