| Background:
Tonight's Public Forum has been scheduled to receive comment from Chapel Hill, Carrboro and University of Chapel Hill communities related to the Request for Information issued by Google as it explores communities in which it can rapidly install fiber-optic facilities and offer ultra-high speed Internet access services. The purpose of the forum is to ascertain community interest in the fiber optic trial and specifically, how residents would use an ultra-high speed Internet network. Comments from tonight's forum will be forwarded to the inter-jurisdictional team that is preparing the application on behalf of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The application is due on March 26, 2010. |
