2002-03
The following parcels were acquired during 2002-03. This report does not include parcels whose purchase is being conditionally negotiated by staff or those parcels whose acquisition has been approved by the Town Council but whose closing has not yet been consummated.
Cates Everett 14.28 acres
Located between I-40 and Millhouse Road, north of Eubanks Road and adjacent to the southern border of the site of the Town Operations Center. It will house much of the transit facility. Price of $239,190, to be financed by 10-year installment debt.
6.70 acres
Located at the apex of the angle formed by the Norfolk and Southern Railroad and I-40, it forms the northernmost portion of the site for the Town Operations Center. It was donated to the Town by John Allen and Anne W. Cates.
Carrol 17.60 acres
Located on Erwin Road, just north of overpass of I-40. It provides open space and a route for part of the Dry Creek Greenway trail. Price of $375,000, including $196,000 from a State Clean Water Management Trust Fund grant and $179,000 from 1996 Open Space Bonds.
Everett 14.28 acres
Located between I-40 and Millhouse Road, north of Eubanks Road and adjacent to the southern border of the site of the Town Operations Center. It will house much of the transit facility. Price of $239,190, to be financed by 10-year installment debt.
McCormick 10.57acres
Located along the south bank of Morgan Creek, west of Smith Level Road. It will accommodate the Morgan Creek Greenway as well as forming part of what we anticipate will be over 35 acres of open space. Price of $158,550, paid from 1996 Open Space Bonds.
Rice .04 acres
Located off the section of Audubon Road that was recently closed and the border of Pritchard Park. Its acquisition was necessary to avoid a bridge on a trail through the park.
Rogers 13.08 acres
Located on Millhouse Road, adjacent to the Everette property at its rear property line. It will house the rest of the transit facility. Price of $337,909, to be financed by 10-year installment debt.
