AGENDA #4e

MEMORANDUM

TO:                  Mayor and Town Council

FROM:            W. Calvin Horton, Town Manager

SUBJECT:       Budget Amendment for Traffic Impact Analyses

DATE:             October 11, 2004

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

In 2001, the Council directed that traffic impact analyses that are required as part of development applications be prepared by consultants working for the Town, rather than by the developer.  Developers are charged a fee to cover the costs of the required analyses.  The fees charged cover the expenditures to the consultants for the actual traffic impact studies.

Enactment of the attached ordinance would increase fee revenues in the Engineering Department budget for FY 2004-05 by $50,000 to reflect estimated revenues and costs, respectively, for traffic impact studies to be completed by the Town’s traffic consultants for development applications.

RECOMMENDATION

That the Council enact the attached ordinance that would increase the Engineering Department budget by $50,000.
