SUBJECT:       Design Guidelines Booklet for the Northside Neighborhood Conservation District

The purpose of this memorandum is to transmit to the Council a Design Guidelines booklet for the Northside Neighborhood Conservation District (Please see Attachment 1).

BACKGROUND

On June 30, 2004, the Council adopted a resolution to add design guidelines for the Northside Neighborhood Conservation District to the Design Guidelines of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan (please see Attachment 2).  The resolution also stated that the design guidelines would be provided as a booklet to citizens and developers as a guide to making alterations to property in the Northside neighborhood.

The Goals adopted on March 23, 2004, by the Town Council identify establishing Design Guidelines for the Northside Neighborhood Conservation District as its third highest priority for 2004.  The goal was to publish a final document with graphics in the fourth quarter of 2004. 

DISCUSSION

We believe that the attached design guidelines booklet for the Northside Neighborhood Conservation District will be helpful to property owners in the Neighborhood Conservation District when making modifications to their property.  The booklet will be available in the Planning Department to citizens and developers.
