SUBJECT:       Development Application: Southern Community Park

DATE:             January 26, 2005

The Commission voted unanimously (4-0) to recommend that the Council approve the Special Use Permit for the Southern Community Park as described in Resolution A in the memorandum to the Planning Board, with one change. The Commission believes that the Special Use Permit should provide enough flexibility to allow a possible conversion of the park’s standard parking lots to “parking groves”. The Commission believes that the language in the Special Use Permit should allow a potential reduction in the number of parking spaces in order to achieve greater shading of the parking lots if analysis of the option shows that the concept is feasible.
