Technology Committee
Mission Statement
Provide the Town Council and staff with strategic
direction, guidance and recommendations on the use of information and
communication technology to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Town
services, business climate, and quality of life in Chapel Hill.
Purposes
- Provide strategic,
budgetary and policy guidance on information and communication
technologies in areas such as planning, acquisition, efficiency,
management, and policies.
- Recommend and advocate implementation of digital
government initiatives that make government information and services more
accessible to citizens, and attract business and private investment.
- Provide advice, consultations, and technical
information in order to maintain awareness of information and
communication technology innovations and clarify options when making technology acquisition or deployment decisions.
- Promote interdepartmental communication and a
common understanding of technology among Town departments, boards, and
committees.
- Provide support to the
Information Technology Director.
- Foster strategic alliances
within the community, the county, and the state in sharing and extending
the benefits of technology resources.
- Identify strategic technology
investment opportunities.
Recommended to the Town Council by unanimous vote of the
Technology Committee on February 15, 2005.
