SUBJECT:       Public Arts Commission Operating Budget

The base budget presented to date in working papers for 2005-06 continues an allocation of $125,000 for the Chapel Hill Public Art Commission, as in 2004-05 the Budget Review Committee has recommended that the Chapel Hill Public Art Commission budget allocation be reduced from $125,000 to $112,500.  We believe this is a policy decision that should be made by the Council.

 

If the Council wishes to consider the reduction recommended by the Citizens Budet Review Committee adoption of the attached resolution do so.

 

 

 


 

A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE MANAGER TO INCLUDE FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $112,500 FOR THE PUBLIC ARTS COMMISSION IN THE 2005/06 OPERATING BUDGET (2005-04-27/R-2)

 

WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill is scheduled to receive the Manager’s recommended operating budget for fiscal year 2005-06 at its May 9 business meeting, and

 

WHEREAS, the Public Arts Commission has historically been funded through the Town’s operating budget, and

 

WHEREAS, the Budget Review Committee has recommended that the Chapel Hill Public Art Commission allocation be reduced from $125,000 the Commission received in fiscal year 2004-05 to $112,500 for fiscal year 2005-06,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is directed to include funding in the amount of $112,500 for the Public Arts Commission in his recommended budget.
