SUBJECT:      United States Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement

My office received a request from Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels inviting the Town of Chapel Hill to join more than 440 other cities in signing onto a Climate Protection Agreement.  The Agreement will be presented as a resolution at the US Conference of Mayors meeting in Chicago this June. The request indicates that the organizers believe Chapel Hill is a key city because we recognize that concern about climate protection is important to local governments in all regions of the country and because of my membership on the US Conference of Mayors Environment Committee.
