A RESOLUTION REGARDING SALARY SURVEYS AND WAGES

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the following policies will apply in determining market comparability of Town positions”

 

(1)   Data Collection: The primary governmental organizations which shall be surveyed and considered in determining labor market and pay comparability of positions of the Town are:

 

The UNC Chapel Hill campus, UNC Health Care System, Town of Apex, Town of Garner, Town of Burlington, City of Durham, Durham County, Town of Hillsborough, Orange County, Carrboro, OWASA, City of Raleigh, City of Cary, Wake County and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School System.

 

Local governments in other parts of the State of North Carolina or in other states in the region may be surveyed and data from those organizations considered in determining comparability of managerial and specialized positions.

 

Data from private industry and from other organizations will be obtained and considered to the extent such data is made available to the Town.

 

(2)   Data analysis: The approximate weighted average of the labor market shall be used to determine local market comparability for Town positions. The Town pay goal shall be to set pay ranges and maintain employee pay at a level equal to the weighted average of the labor market plus ten percent.

 

(3)   Other: Salary policies are subject to modification by the Council at the time any budget is adopted or at other times as determined by the Council

 

Previous policies or resolutions in conflict with this resolution are hereby repealed.
