Dear Mayor Foy and Town Council Members,

The Chapel Hill Downtown Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors would like to petition Town Council to be designated as a partner with the Town Technology Advisory Committee in pursuing wireless internet access for the downtown area. The CHDEDC Board agreed to this by an e-mail vote. This initiative is in the Technology Advisory Committee’s 2005-2006 strategic plans.

We understand such collaboration would include, but not limited to determining the coverage area, reviewing and selecting platform and hardware, reviewing and contracting with consultants, designing a business plan, and promoting the idea with citizens and local businesses.

Provision of wireless internet service downtown is a desire of the CHDEDC and we are pleased to collaborate with the Technology Advisory Committee to accomplish this goal.
