subject: Triangle United Way Harvest Feast

My office received a request from Triangle United Way President Craig Chancellor inviting the Town of Chapel Hill to join Raleigh and Durham in support of the 3^rd Harvest Feast on October 30, 2005 at the RBC Center.  The Harvest Feast is a traditional holiday meal served to members of our community living at or below poverty and/or receiving some form of social services. More than 4000 people were served last year at this event.

I agreed to attend and support the event and I request Council support for this event.  Town support would include coordination of transportation for residents who wish to participate and registering volunteers to serve the meal.  Manager Horton and Emily Dickens in my office have agreed to handle implementation.
