SUMMARY OF BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY BOARD ACTION

Subject:                   Filling of Vacancies on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board

Meeting Date:        September 28,2005

Recommendation: The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board request that the Town Council consider an amendment to the Town Code regarding appointments and filling of vacancies on the Board which would provide a way to fill the vacant Durham/ChathamCounty member seat.

The Board suggests that after advertising and a suitable waiting period, the Town Council allow a Chapel Hill resident to fill the vacant seat if there is no eligible applicant considered suitable. Then when a Chapel Hill seat becomes vacant if there is an eligible Durham/Chatham County applicant at that time, the Town Council could appoint that person.
