SUBJECT:       Triangle United Way Harvest Feast

In September, my office received a request from Triangle United Way President Craig Chancellor inviting the Town of Chapel Hill to join Raleigh and Durham in support of the 3^rd Harvest Feast on October 30, 2005 at the RBC Center.  The Harvest Feast is a traditional holiday meal served to members of our community living at or below the poverty line and/or receiving some form of social services. Over 4000 people were served last year at this event.

I agreed to attend and support the event and Council agreed to support this event at our meeting on September 12, 2005.  Town support includes coordination of transportation for residents who wish to participate and registering volunteers to serve the meal. The Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness has agreed to facilitate these activities. 

This evening I am requesting financial support in the amount of $1100 to provide transportation for Chapel Hill residents to attend the Harvest Feast.
