(Manager’s Recommendation)
A RESOLUTION AWARDING A BID FOR INSTALLATION OF A STANDBY ELECTRIC POWER GENERATOR AT THE CHAPEL HILL POLICE DEPARTMENT (2005-10-24/R-6a)
WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has solicited formal bids by legal notice on September 1, 2005 and September 4, 2005 in accordance with G.S. 143-129 for installation of a standby electric power generator at the Chapel Hill Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the following bids were received and opened on September 27, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Bryant-Durham Services, Inc. has offered a negotiated bid of $268,600 based on value engineering cost reductions in the amount of $17,400; and
WHEREAS, funding in the amount of $258,500 is available in the fiscal year 2005-06 Capital Improvements Budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town directs the Town Manager to submit a recommended budget amendment in the amount of $10,100 for additional funding of the Police Department Generator Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town authorizes the Town Manager to execute a contract with the lowest responsive bidder, Bryant-Durham Services, Inc., in the amount $268,600.
